How to clean your beauty sponge
Hey guys,
I'm pretty sure most of us using this perfect tool for applying foundation, liquid bronzer, highlighter or just to set or bake face with powder. Whatever you do, it always leaves your beauty sponge dirty. So now is the time for the question "How to clean your beauty sponge?" Well, there are two ways how to clean your sponge and you should use both of them, because first method removes only the product and second one kills every tiny bacteria living in the sponge.
Regular washing - First way how you can clean your sponge is using any soap. Someone prefes a bar of soap, another shower gels, baby shampoo, hair shampoo or even soap for washing dishes. What you choose is only up to you, but I prefer to use any baby shampoo or hair shampoo, because it is way more gentle than the other option, I think. I might wouldn't recommend the bar of soap, because I have a feel like you won't get enough soap inside of the beauty sponge. BUT… How I said, it's only your choice, so take my notes only as recommendations and decide on your own. After you decide what are you gonna use, follow these steps:
1. Dampen the beauty sponge with warm water.
3. Rinse the sponge.
4. Add little bit more of the shampoo and squeeze / knead the sponge until it begins to lather.
5. Rinse and squeeze the sponge untill there is no lather.
6. Squeeze excess water.
7. Let it air dry.
Sanitizing - Second way how to clean your beauty sponge is clean it from inside. When you're done with removing all the makeup dirt, you can grab some hand sanitizer and knead it inside the sponge, afer a while, rinse and squeeze until there is nothing inside. Secong option how to sanitize your sponge is popping into a bowl with hot water. Then place the bowl with hot water in microvawe and leave the sponge there about 1-2 minutes on high. After it's done, wait till the water and sponge is cooler, grab it and squeeze all the excess water. Let it air dry.
Ok guys, now comes the question how often you should clean your beauty sponge? Well, the general washing you should do after every using, the sanitizing process I would recommend every week. If you're too lazy to do it after every use, please, do it every week. This is very important thing, because sponges keep a lot of bacteria in thanks the wet environment. And trust me, you don't want to put these mini animals on your face, because they can make pretty big mess with your skin, especially if you have predispositions.
That's everything for this time. I hope this was helpfull for someone and you guys tell me if you have different techniques how to clean your beauty sponges. I would be more than happy to learn something new. :)
Have a great day!
Love, Michelle <3

I don't often use a beauty sponge but I should definitely try to clean mine more! I've never heard of sanitizing it but that seems like an important step, I should do that more often as well x
