L'Oréal, Purify & Mattify Pure-Clay Mask

by - 9:00:00 AM

Hello guys,

I know I posted this product in 4th USA Haul number, which is not that long time ago, but as I explained before, that haul was a mix of products I bought in November and December. Luckily, this mask I purchased in the beginning of November, so I had two full months to try this product and make my own opinion about it. My review is my honest opinion and my opinion doesn't have to match with other reviews. If something works for me, that doesn't mean it has to work for you too and vice versa. But I'm pretty sure, you guys already know that, so let's get into it.

I bought this mask when I was in the United States, because my skin started to change. I have a dry acne-prone skin. I treated my acne for a year and finally got rid off everything (story for another time), but because I have large pores, from time to time I had some clogged pores, which is normal. The game changed in September. My forehead and chin started to act crazy and I my clogged pores and big red bumps filled with some "water" started to grow like mushrooms after rain (I hope you guys know this expression, if not, it means "a lot in short time"). Long story short I wanted to try some mask which would've cleaned my deep pores and helped me with clogged pores.

What was supposed to do: This mask is supposed to purify an mattify skin in 10 min. Clay penetrates deep into pores to remove impurities. Skin should look less shiny and oily, re-energized and fresher.

Price:
I bought this mask for $9.99 in Target.

Packaging:
This packaging comes in glass  jar with 1.7 oz / 50 g.  I like this packaging, because the glass makes it feels like it is fancy mask. It is open jar with lid, so you have to stick your fingers (or some clean brush in better way) inside this product, which I am not the biggest fan of. I prefer masks in squeezing tubes, so the application is more hygienic, but this is just how I feel.

Texture, application and scent:
First of all, I am not a fan of the scent. I actully hate this scent, for me it smells like old school bar of soap, but I read somewhere that it is scent of Eucalyptus. I've never smelt Eucalyptus before, so I can't say for sure if it's true or not. So I would like to warn you that this scent doesn't have to be everyone's cup of tea.
The texture is very smooth, so it applied very easily. It dries pretty quickly, in 7-10 min it's usually completely dry. It doesn't stretch the skin when it's dry like some masks can do. It's very comfortable for clay drying mask. After 10-15 min I rinsed this mask off with warm water (I think it goes easily with warm water then with cold water). Washing off process is like any other clay mask, it takes some time, but it's not time consuming.

Result:
The first impression was amazing, I could've seen a big differnce. After two months: This mask is for oily skin, because I don't have oily skin, I used this mask only in my problematic areas - forehead, nose and chin. My skin was always little dry after use, but nothing extreme, I always applied moisturize and everything was back in normal. It didn't irritate my skin (I have sensitive skin and sometimes mask can do a mess with my face). When you apply this mask, you can see how the mask clean the pores - visible dots on the mask. This mask helped me with black heads on my nose, they were smaller and less visible. It did help me with some clogged pores around my chin, but some of them were still there. Big con for me, it didn't help me with any of my clogged pores on my forehead. On the other hand when I had white pimple, it and helped to faster healing. Skin after is soft as baby butt.

Final thoughts: This mask is great for regular problems such as blackheads on nose. My skin was always soft and great. It did helps with some pimples, but unfortunately it didn't help me with my large clogged pores on my forehead, which I expected to. I'm not sayig that this is the mask's fault, because I might have bigger problem, then just dirty pores from time to time. Over all, I like the mask, although I hate the scent. I think this mask for the price is great. Because of that I rate this mask with 4 stars.

Did you try this mask? What is your opinion about it?

Have a great day!

Love, Michelle <3

  2. I tried the red algae mask from L'Oreal and I liked it a lot! This one sounds amazing too, although I don't like eucalyptus scents. Perhaps something more medicated would be better for your forehead? I hope you find something that works for you soon!
