Pixi by Petra, Brow Tamer

by - 9:00:00 AM

Hello lovelies,

in last month's Look Fantastic Beauty box (read about it here) I got this Brow Tamer from Pixi by Petra. I've never tried anything from this brand, but I've heard pretty amazing things about their Hydraing Milk Mist. If this brand was sold in Czech, I'm pretty sure I would be more than happy to try a lot of products. Anyway, I was very happy to finally try something from Pixi by Petra and when I found out that this was a brow product I was happier than before.

I tried to google some reviews about this product before using and I was surprised that I didn't find a lot. So I did my very own opinion on this product without any influence. Two days before writing this review I googled again and found a few posts and I was pretty surprised that everyone actually loved, because what I am going to say about this tamer is not going to be very positive.

On an official website I found this description "This long-wearing brow beautifier is the perfect finishing touch to any brow look, defining & shaping instantly. The soothing formula with aloe vera and panthenol conditions brow hairs and gives a natural, soft effect!" was pretty promising, but the reality was pretty disappointing. I'm very sad to say this, but this product did not work out for me at all. But let's start from the beginning.

The packaging is clear plastic with bronze letters on it, which I pretty much scratched after two weeks of using. It looks kinda cheap, but I don't mind, because for the price ($15) you got pretty nice amount of product (4.5 ml / 15 fl. oz.) But what I wasn't a big fan of is the wand. It is typical like mascara's wand. For me personally it's little bit bigger than I would prefer, but I totally understand that this is just a personal thing. What I really hate is the chemical scent. When you open the bottle you don't smell anything, but when you smell the actual product, you get this awful chemical scent which I think was not the best solution. When they write about aloe vera ingredients, I expected to have that scent.

When it comes to the application… Despite the bigger applicator, I think the application was very good. I brushed through my hair easily and the gel didn't pack on, so it looked natural and not wet, BUT … It didn't lock my brow hair in place at all, not even for five mintes. When it dries out, it just looked like I didn't put anything on. So afterall I actually don't see the purpose and the reason why I should keep using this.

Overall I was pretty disappointed by this product, because I had this high expectations. After reading some of the reviews, but I don't know how someone can say that he likes this product. This just didn't work out for me. The only thing I could say is, that it did natural effect to my brows, but this is not what I'm looking for from a brow gel. I must say, I don't know what I'm going to do with this, because this is obviously something what I'm not going to use anymore. Because of that I rate this product with only one star.

Have you tried this product? What do you think about it?

Have a great day!

Love, Michelle <3

  1. Ooo, thank you for the review! I am a huge fan of brow gel but if it doesn't hold the hair in place then there's no point to it. :-(

  3. Oh no, so sorry that this didn't work for you. I'll have to steer clear of this one. I've not had much luck with Pixi eyebrow products either. I received their eyebrow pencil from a giveaway & it was absolutely horrid!

Such a shame this didn't work out for you. I've been a little curious about it, but if it's not going to lock anything in place, then it's not worth purchasing. Thanks for being honest!

  10. It's so unfortunate when you have high hopes for something and it doesn't work out :(. I've only tried a couple Pixi products (from their skincare range) so I'll make sure to skip this as I check out more from the brand.

  16. Or really? I actually really loved this brow gel - specifically because of the applicator. It's so dense and I feel that it helps to properly distribute the product. So sorry it didn't work for you!
